Kai Tsujimura, born in 1976, is the second son of Shiro Tsujimura. He also grew up surrounded by ceramics and began his apprenticeship under his father in 1994. In 2000, Kai built his own kiln in Sakurai City, Nara, and became an independent ceramic artist.

Kai works with a wide range of traditional Japanese ceramics, including Ido, Shino, Iga, Shigaraki, Karatsu, Kohiki, and Hikidashi black ware. His work is characterized by a vibrant, natural energy and vitality, which distinguishes his pieces from ancient ceramics. Kai’s pieces are popular among professional chefs and are often used in high-end restaurants.
